President Obama should "grow up" and stop blaming his predecessor for the economy's woes, says John Sununu, White House chief of staff to former president George H.W. Bush and a former governor of New Hampshire.

"At some point, Obama is going to have to grow up and accept responsibility," Sununu told reporters on a conference call this afternoon. He said admnistration officials are "dragging out the blame-George-Bush period" to lengths that are "ridiculous." The George Bush he's talking about is Obama's predecessor, George W. Bush, son of Sununu's former boss.

"We're 18 months into something they should have control of," Sununu said. "Grow up President Obama. Grow up Vice President Biden. Start looking like a man."

Sununu's comments came just after Biden visited the state to celebrate a weatherization program that, the vice president contended, is not just saving energy but creating jobs.

At a private home in Manchester, N.H. that's just been weatherized, Biden said the administration's economic stimulus has put the federal government on track to improve energy efficiency in 600,000 homes over three years.

Sununu argued that job creation has been anemic and that major corporations are holding onto cash rather than investing in more hires because they are "scared stiff" of the president's policies. "People have lost faith in this administration," he said. "I'm absolutely convinced that the only way we are going to create job is to have a huge Republican win in November."
