NH Senate Dem: Lynch Didn't Tell Truth About LLC Income Tax

Democrat Senator Turns On Lynch, Blames Governor For Job-Killing LLC Tax Debacle

CONCORD –  In an interview in today’s Fosters Daily Democrat (3/12), a top-ranking Democrat State Senator accused Governor Lynch and his Administration of “misleading” legislators about the impact of his job-killing LLC income tax. Lynch proposed and actively campaigned for the disastrous tax to pay for his reckless spending increases during state budget negotiations last June.

“What I would say is I was misled,” said Senator Jackie Cilley (D-Barrington) about her decision to support Lynch’s job-killing LLC income tax.

In a statement released yesterday, Cilley also stated that Governor Lynch’s dishonest characterization of the new LLC tax as a “loophole” is utterly deceitful:

“When this change to the LLC tax law was presented to us last year in the final days of the conference committee on the budget, we were told that the change would simply close a loophole in the tax laws which treated some business entities more favorably than others,” said Cilley (NHPoliticalReport, 3/11). “As we now know, the change did much more than that.”

“Senator Cilley has confirmed that Governor Lynch dishonestly mislead New Hampshire voters when he proposed and personally campaigned for his job-killing LLC small business income tax,” said NHGOP Communications Director Ryan Williams. “The Governor’s intentionally fraudulent LLC income tax rhetoric, combined with his deceitful flip-flops on across the board spending cuts and same-sex marriage, prove that Granite Staters cannot trust anything that John Lynch tells them.”
