And Hodes Losing To A Republican In The NINTH Consecutive Survey
CONCORD – Embattled Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter is losing to every one of her Republican opponents in a poll released yesterday by the University of New Hampshire (WMUR, 2/9). The two-term Representative’s approval ratings are upside down – with an astounding 40% of First District residents holding an unfavorable opinion of Ms. Shea-Porter while only 35% view her favorably.
“Carol Shea-Porter’s abysmal poll numbers are just another indication that New Hampshire voters have flatly rejected the Democrats’ reckless fiscal policies and failed jobs initiatives. Congresswoman Shea-Porter has blindly followed President Obama’s irresponsible, budget-busting agenda despite overwhelming opposition from her constituents,” said NHGOP Communications Director Ryan Williams. “First District residents are fed up with Congresswoman Shea-Porter’s arrogant disregard for struggling taxpayers, and they’re ready to throw her out of office and into the terrible jobs market she created.”
The survey also indicates that Congressman Paul Hodes is extremely unpopular with New Hampshire voters. This is the NINTH consecutive poll that shows the unlikeable Congressman trailing a Republican in the 2010 US Senate race (RealClearPolitics).
“Clearly, New Hampshire voters aren’t buying Paul Hodes’ desperate and dishonest attempt to cover up his reckless fiscal agenda. Granite Staters are smart enough to realize that Congressman Hodes has championed higher taxes, voted for trillions of dollars in new spending and supported every one of the Democrats’ failed jobs programs during his time in Washington,” said Williams. “They understand that Paul Hodes is part of the problem in Washington – not the solution.”
The Democrats’ dismal poll results follow recent acknowledgements by top New Hampshire Democrats that voters are fed up with their reckless fiscal stewardship and are eager to dump their Party in November.
“We are nervous – we are all nervous,” said State Senator and New Hampshire Democrat Party Vice-Chair Martha Fuller Clark at a DNC conference in Washington on Saturday (POLITICO, 2/6).
